How MetroRailRoutes Works

Last updated: 7 November 2026

Each city guide is built from a data record per line, station, fare and timing. A record carries one of three labels (below) and is only shown as checked when it has an official source link and the date it last passed our checks.

The three labels

Every city page carries one of three labels for its facts. The label names the kinds of fact it covers (for example fares) and the date. Facts it does not name are not verified.

  • Not verified. The figure comes from an earlier edition of the guide or has not passed our checks. We are re-checking it against the operator.
  • Desk verified. The figure passed our automated tests: it comes from the operator's own website, we hold a short quotation from that page containing the value, the check is recent, the value is plausible, nothing else on the site contradicts it, and the page still said the same when we last fetched it.
  • Verified. A desk-verified figure that a person also checked in person (on site, with operator staff, or at a gate or ticket machine). The role and date are logged; we do not publish names.

The date shown is the day we last passed the tests, not the date the operator changed the figure. Figures that are not verified stay out of headline answers where we can. Operators change prices without notice, so always confirm with the operator before you travel.

How often we check

Fares, passes and timings are re-checked every quarter and whenever an operator announces a change. Openings and extensions are posted on the updates page with the official notice linked.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell tickets or show live train positions. Use the operator's app for that.
  • We do not invent figures. A missing figure is shown as missing.
  • We do not copy competitor pages or official map artwork.
